HYDERABAD – The Telangana government has engaged Surbana Jurong, a globally reputed urban planning and infrastructure consultancy based in Singapore, to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the ambitious Bharat Future City on the outskirts of Hyderabad, according to official sources Singapore DPR For Future City.

The core phase of Bharat Future City will span approximately 30,000 acres, with the DPR specifically detailing zoning plans for 15,000 acres. Based on these recommendations, land parcels will be allocated for key sectors including education, healthcare, information technology, artificial intelligence, sports infrastructure, and film city-related developments. The remaining area is proposed to be developed as forest and urban forestry zones, reinforcing the project’s sustainability objectives.
Several prominent domestic and international companies expressed interest in establishing operations within Bharat Future City during the Telangana Rising Global Summit 2025. However, the state government has clarified that all project approvals will be routed through a global tendering process. Initiatives proposed so far include a world-class zoo and eco-tourism zone by Reliance Group under its Vantara initiative, and a ₹10,000-crore integrated township and film studio project announced by Salman Khan Ventures Pvt Ltd. These proposals will compete with international players through transparent bidding procedures, as per the policy direction of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
In a significant expansion, the government has merged surrounding villages, increasing the overall Future City footprint to nearly two lakh acres. The Future City Development Authority is expected to invite requests for proposals in January 2026 for preparing a comprehensive master plan covering 56 revenue villages across multiple mandals. The planning exercise is based on detailed assessments of soil conditions and geographical suitability.
The DPR envisions Mucherla as the central and iconic zone of Future City, featuring a high-rise AI City with skyscrapers, IT towers, corporate offices, and large-scale data centres. Land originally acquired for Pharma City is being repurposed for this vertical development, supported by a 300-foot-wide arterial road connecting the area to the Outer Ring Road. Dedicated clusters for green pharma and data centres are planned with strict environmental safeguards, including mandatory zero liquid discharge norms.
Adjacent zones will host an education hub at Meerkhanpet, a health and wellness city near Kandukur, a 3,000-acre sports city capable of hosting Olympic-level events, and a large urban forest and eco-tourism zone offering night safaris, trekking, cycling, wellness resorts, and glamping facilities. High-density commercial development is proposed along the Srisailam Highway, with residential townships strategically located between IT and commercial hubs.
Future City is planned as a carbon-neutral urban centre, with underground utilities, grid-based road networks, integrated metro connectivity from Shamshabad Airport to Mucherla, and a central transport hub combining metro, buses, and EV charging infrastructure. Only electric vehicles will be permitted within the city, while the Regional Ring Road will handle external logistics movement.
