INTACH Utsav 2026 to Celebrate India’s Living Craft and Cultural Heritage in New Delhi

The Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) is set to host INTACH Utsav 2026, a four-day cultural festival celebrating India’s rich craft traditions, food heritage, and conservation practices. The event will take place from 28 to 31 January 2026 at the INTACH headquarters, 71, Lodhi Estate, New Delhi, and is open to the public with free admission.

Event Overview

INTACH Utsav has evolved into a significant platform that brings together artisans, conservation professionals, students, and heritage enthusiasts. The 2026 edition continues this legacy with hands-on craft demonstrations, heritage walks, workshops, talks, and guided conservation lab visits, offering visitors an immersive experience of India’s tangible and intangible heritage.

Programme Highlights (Day-wise)

Day 1 – 28 January 2026

The festival opens with a welcome address by Shri Ashok Singh Thakur, Chairman, INTACH, followed by the inauguration by Ms. Ranjana Chopra, Secretary, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India.
Key activities include:

  • Heritage Walk from Safdarjung’s Tomb
  • School visits and inaugural session
  • Guided walk of the Conservation Laboratory
  • Expert talk on “Perfumescapes of Kannauj: Attars among Commodities and Communities” by Prof. Projit B. Mukharji

Day 2 – 29 January 2026

Focus on building crafts and food heritage:

  • Heritage Walk from Humayun’s Tomb and Museum
  • Ongoing training and demonstrations on traditional building repair techniques
  • Calligraphy workshop by Mr. Inku Kumar
  • Talk on “Forgotten Foods – The Story of Millets” by Ms. Himanshu Kapoor

Day 3 – 30 January 2026

Exploring conservation and visual heritage:

  • Heritage Walk from Bahai (Lotus) Temple
  • Continued conservation training and demonstrations
  • Guided Conservation Lab visits
  • Talk on “The Crafting of Photography Legacy” by Mr. Arjun, Mr. Pavan, and Mr. Pankaj Mahatta

Day 4 – 31 January 2026

The concluding day highlights education and sustainability:

  • Heritage Walk from Purana Qila
  • School visits and certification distribution
  • Talk on “History of Indian Craft and Influence on Indian History” by Ms. Mira Gupta, focusing on design, craft, and sustainability
