The programme is designed in response to the rapid transformation underway in the fields of architecture and urban planning, driven by digital innovation, computational design, artificial intelligence, and data-driven methodologies. As architectural education and professional practice increasingly integrate advanced technologies, the initiative aims to equip faculty members and practicing architects with contemporary tools and pedagogical approaches necessary for future-ready education and research.

According to the programme outline, the training aligns with the Council of Architecture’s vision of strengthening faculty competence, promoting research-led innovation, and embedding technology within architectural pedagogy. The programme seeks to bridge the gap between traditional architectural education and emerging technological paradigms that are redefining design thinking and planning strategies.

Key Objectives

The primary objectives of the programme include:

  • Familiarising participants with emerging design and planning technologies
  • Exploring innovative digital methods in architectural education
  • Understanding parametric, computational, and AI-based design systems
  • Developing interdisciplinary approaches integrating architecture, data, and planning
  • Strengthening pedagogical innovation in architectural institutions

Indicative Themes and Topics

Participants will be introduced to a wide range of contemporary themes, including:

  • Parametric and computational design tools such as Grasshopper, Rhino, and Dynamo
  • Artificial Intelligence in design thinking
  • Building Information Modelling (BIM) for sustainable architecture
  • GIS and urban analytics for planning
  • Smart cities and data-driven urbanism
  • Digital fabrication, prototyping, and virtual reality in design education
  • Pedagogical innovations in architectural curricula
  • Case studies of technology-integrated architectural projects
